Cloudflare Launches Web Search API in Beta

Original: Web Search API

Why This Matters

Live web grounding is a key gap in production AI agent pipelines.

Cloudflare's AI Gateway now includes a Web Search API in beta, letting AI agents query live web results via three providers—Ceramic.ai, Exa, and Linkup—with Zero Data Retention and no markup on API pricing.

Cloudflare has launched a Web Search API in beta, integrated directly into its AI Gateway product. The API allows AI agents and applications to retrieve live web results rather than depending on a model's static training data or guessing at URLs.

At launch, developers can choose from three search providers: Ceramic.ai, Exa, and Linkup. All three support Zero Data Retention for requests routed through Cloudflare and have agreed to Cloudflare's verified bot crawling standards—a notable commitment that distinguishes this offering from typical scraping-based approaches.

Requests are logged in AI Gateway and billed at each provider's standard list API price with no additional Cloudflare markup. Developers can also supply their own provider API keys. The API is accessible via REST or directly from a Cloudflare Worker using the AI binding, making integration straightforward for teams already in the Cloudflare ecosystem. Sample code for both methods is available in the official changelog.
