Google launches Fitbit Edge at $179.99

Why This Matters

Fitbit Edge fills a key price gap in Google's wearable portfolio, targeting mid-market health-focused consumers.

Google unveiled the Fitbit Edge on Oct. 12, 2026, a $179.99 wearable positioned between the Fitbit Air and Pixel Watch, featuring an OLED display, built-in GPS, and Gemini-powered health coaching.

Google expanded its Fitbit lineup with the Fitbit Edge, available for preorder via the Google Store ahead of an October 27 in-store launch. At $179.99, the device slots between the budget Fitbit Air and the premium Pixel Watch, borrowing the Air's slim band form factor and adding an OLED display capable of showing map directions, notifications, weather, and music controls.

The Edge includes Google Health Coach, powered by Gemini, which builds personalized weekly routines and adjusts workout plans around a user's schedule — though it requires a Google Health Premium subscription. It also carries Health Guardian, a feature first announced at the Pixel Watch 5 launch in August, designed to detect changes in blood pressure and insulin resistance indicators over time.

On the fitness tracking side, the Edge automatically recognizes up to 100 activities and supports more than 50 exercise modes with on-screen coaching prompts. Google claims its built-in GPS is 40% more accurate than the previous generation, and sleep-stage detection has improved by 15%. Battery life is rated at up to seven days, with 50-meter water resistance.

Color options include Obsidian, Fog, Olive, and Canyon. A Stephen Curry Special Edition is priced at $219.99.
