Dimension Capital raises $800M third fund for science-compute startups

Original: Dimension Capital’s $800M third fund shows the intersection of science and compute is booming

Why This Matters

The rapid fund size growth signals strong LP appetite for deep-tech ventures at the science-AI compute intersection.

New York-based Dimension Capital announced an $800 million third fund on July 21, 2026 — 60% larger than its $500 million second fund raised just 18 months prior. Founded in late 2022 by former Lux Capital partners Zavian Dar and Adam Goulburn and Nan Li, the firm targets the intersection of science and compute.

Dimension Capital, a New York venture firm founded in late 2022, has closed its third fund at $800 million, marking a 60% increase over its prior $500 million vehicle raised just 18 months earlier. The firm was co-founded by Zavian Dar and Adam Goulburn, formerly partners at Lux Capital, alongside Nan Li, an alum of Obvious Ventures. Their core thesis: founders would increasingly build deep-tech companies spanning biotech and software. Notable portfolio wins validate that bet. In 2024, Dimension co-led a $30 million seed round in Chai Discovery, an open-source AI foundation model startup for drug development, which last week raised $400 million at a $3.8 billion valuation. The firm also backed anti-aging startup New Limit at its Series A in January 2025; New Limit — co-founded by Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong — completed a Series C this month at a $3.1 billion valuation. Additional investments include inference company Modal Labs and Anthropic. Dimension gained Anthropic equity after the AI company acquired portfolio company Coefficient Bio, a drug discovery platform, for a reported $400 million this spring.
