Amazon drops Grubhub, switches to Uber Eats for Prime
Original: Amazon ditches GrubHub, taps Uber Eats for Prime
Why This Matters
Uber Eats gains a major distribution channel; Grubhub loses its largest corporate partner.
Amazon named Uber Eats its official restaurant delivery partner for U.S. Prime members on Nov. 5, 2026, ending its deal with Grubhub. Prime members can order via Amazon.com with no delivery fee on orders over $25.
Amazon has replaced Grubhub with Uber Eats as the food delivery benefit for U.S. Prime members. Starting Thursday, Prime members can order directly through Amazon.com or the Amazon Shopping app without creating an Uber account. Orders over $25 carry no delivery fee. To sweeten the launch, both companies are offering $20 off the first two qualifying orders placed within the first two weeks.
The Grubhub commercial agreement ends immediately for new orders, though Prime members who previously activated Grubhub+ can keep using that membership through December 31, 2027.
The switch ends a four-year relationship. Amazon first partnered with Grubhub in 2022, offering Prime members a free Grubhub+ subscription. It later expanded the deal and even negotiated an equity stake of up to 18% in Grubhub via performance-based warrants — but cashed those out in December 2024 after Just Eat Takeaway sold Grubhub to Wonder.
The Uber Eats deal extends an already broad Amazon-Uber relationship that spans AWS cloud services, Zoox robotaxi integration, and Uber Eats' existing tie-in with the Alexa+ assistant. An Amazon spokesperson said the company "continuously evaluates its third-party offers" and saw an opportunity to improve its restaurant delivery experience.
