After pairing with its companion app, users lock selected apps such as Instagram or TikTok, and must physically scan the key to unlock them for sessions of up to 60 minutes. The idea is that leaving the key in another room or at the gym turns an impulsive app-open into a deliberate action.
At $9, it significantly undercuts competitors: Blok ($29), Unpluq ($26.50), and Brick ($59). While Brick offers extras like Sleep Mode and in-app purchase blocking, Autonomous Key covers core functionality at a fraction of the cost. One key can pair with multiple phones, making it family-friendly.
The companion app includes AI-powered usage insights with a 'sassy' personality that comments on behavior patterns. No subscription or premium tier is required.
