Unitree, a Hangzhou-based robotics startup known for affordable dancing robots, has released the GD01, a massive mecha robot available for purchase. The introductory video shows CEO Xingxing Wang riding inside the robot's belly compartment before demonstrating its ability to smash cinder block walls. The red-limbed robot can contort itself, crawl backwards, and perform various transformations. Unitree has gained prominence for producing cost-effective robots, with its G1 humanoids selling for around $15,000 compared to US-made alternatives costing ten times more. The company leverages China's hardware supply chain for competitive pricing and plans to go public this year.
