Why This Matters

M6 marks Apple's next SoC generation, setting AI-on-device benchmarks for the PC industry.

Apple on Oct 27, 2026 announced the 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by the M6 chip, featuring a 12-core CPU, 12-core GPU, up to 24hr battery, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and on-device AI. Pre-orders open Oct 28; ships Nov 6.

Apple's new 14-inch MacBook Pro runs on the M6 chip, which carries a 12-core CPU with what Apple calls 'the world's fastest CPU core,' a 12-core GPU with Neural Accelerators embedded in each core, and a Dual 16-core Neural Engine. Compared to M5, Apple claims up to 30% faster graphics and 25% faster AI workloads. Users upgrading from M1 face more dramatic numbers: up to 11x faster graphics and 13x faster AI performance.

On connectivity, the machine gains Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Battery life is rated at 24 hours, unchanged from prior claims but now backed by M6 efficiency. The display remains the Liquid Retina XDR panel, now available with a nano-texture option, alongside a 12MP Center Stage camera and a six-speaker audio system.

Apple VP of Hardware Engineering Shelly Goldberg said M6 takes 'performance to the next level' for a broad range of users spanning students, creatives, and business professionals. The machine ships with macOS 27 and supports on-device LLM execution and Apple Intelligence features. Available in space black and silver, pre-orders open October 28 with shipping starting November 6.
