Google Photos Virtual Closet Now Live on Android and iOS
Original: Google Photos ‘Clueless’-inspired virtual closet is now available on Android and iOS
Why This Matters
Google is embedding AI directly into personal photo libraries, moving Photos beyond storage toward an active lifestyle utility.
Google Photos' AI-powered virtual closet feature, inspired by the 1995 film 'Clueless,' is now available to all users in the U.S., Brazil, and India on both Android and iOS. Android access launched in June 2026; iOS users are now included in the full rollout.
Google's virtual closet feature for Google Photos has reached full availability across Android and iOS in the U.S., Brazil, and India. The feature uses AI to catalog clothing items from a user's existing photos, then lets them filter by category — tops, bottoms, jewelry, and more — and mix and match pieces to plan outfits. Google explicitly states that wardrobe data is not shared with third-party retailers. The rollout is accompanied by several other Google Photos updates: a single-prompt photo selection and sharing tool via Gemini Spark (requiring a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription in the U.S.), an upgraded Markup tool with a redacting pen for blurring sensitive information like license plates, precision thickness sliders, and additional font options. Android users also get new 'Moods' filters, offering looks such as 35mm film and 2000s digicam aesthetics, along with more AI-driven Remix templates.
