Adobe launched its redesigned Premiere video-editing app for Android on September 22, 2026—nearly a year after its iOS debut. The app is free, requires Android 13 and 5 GB of RAM minimum, and replaces Premiere Rush, which Adobe will discontinue on September 30.

The release marks the formal retirement of Premiere Rush, which loses support on September 30. Eric Snowden, Adobe's SVP of Design, told WIRED the iOS version earned 'incredibly positive' feedback—it holds a 4.8-star rating from over 25,000 App Store reviews.
The Android build was engineered to feel native to Google's platform rather than a simple port. On foldable devices like Samsung's Galaxy Fold line, the app splits into a dual-panel layout: footage preview on the left, multi-track timeline on the right. Snowden noted that foldable optimization is informing work on the upcoming iPhone Duo app as well.
Adobe also confirmed its apps—Acrobat, Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere—are optimized for Google's new Googlebook laptop platform, though without 'desktop-grade' capability. The team prioritized broad device compatibility; the minimum spec is 5 GB RAM and Android 13.
Features include a mini editor for quick trims and color filters, a full multi-track timeline, direct YouTube Shorts export, and Firefly-powered AI tools such as Generative Fill, Image-to-Video, and Generate Sound Effects. AI features beyond a monthly allotment require paid generative credits. Some features remain listed as 'coming soon.'
