Overview
PithWire is a news curation site. We collect minimal data and do not require user accounts or logins. This policy explains what data is collected and how it is used.
Cookies and Local Storage
PithWire uses browser localStorage to remember your tag filter preferences (which news categories you have enabled or disabled). This data stays entirely in your browser and is never sent to our servers.
We do not set our own tracking cookies.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use PithWire. GA4 may use cookies to distinguish unique users and collect data such as page views, session duration, referral sources, and approximate geographic location. This data helps us improve the site. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.
You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Advertising
PithWire may display advertisements provided by Google AdSense or other advertising partners. These services may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your browsing activity. For more information about how Google uses data from partner sites, see How Google uses information from sites that use our services.
You can manage your ad personalization preferences at Google Ads Settings.
Data We Collect
If you contact us by email, we retain your email address and message content solely for the purpose of responding to your inquiry. We do not share this information with third parties.
We do not currently offer user accounts, newsletters, or any service that requires personal information.
Third-Party Services
PithWire is hosted on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare may process request metadata (IP addresses, headers) as part of its infrastructure services. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy for details.
Article links direct to external news sources. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which we do not control.
Data Retention
We do not store personal data beyond what is described above. News articles and metadata are stored on Cloudflare infrastructure (Workers KV and R2) and retained as long as they remain published.
Children's Privacy
PithWire is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves. Changes take effect when posted to this page. For significant changes, we will note the update on our homepage.
