What is PithWire?

PithWire distills AI and tech news to what actually matters. Every story gets a 200-character factual summary and a one-line "why it matters" analysis, so you can stay informed without wading through noise.

Our tagline: Just the pith.

How It Works

We curate stories from Hacker News and other technical sources. Each story goes through an automated pipeline:

  1. Classification — Stories are categorized into 10 topic areas (AI models, funding, regulation, hardware, big tech, tools, open source, security, research, and other).
  2. Summarization — Each story is condensed to its core facts: who, what, when, where, why, and key numbers. No speculation.
  3. "Why it matters" — A single line of analysis from an industry and growth perspective. No stock predictions, no hype.
  4. Quality checks — Automated filters remove non-tech content, low-signal posts, and stories that don't clear our relevance floor.

Editorial Policy

  • Articles are generated and summarized by AI (Claude by Anthropic). We do not claim human authorship.
  • Factual summaries stick to what is reported. "Why it matters" reflects editorial judgment on industry significance.
  • We do not fabricate quotes, invent sources, or present speculation as fact.
  • Stories are updated on a regular schedule (multiple times daily).
