Zuckerberg: Meta's enterprise AI goes beyond agents
Original: Zuckerberg says Meta’s enterprise AI opportunity extends beyond agents
Why This Matters
Meta is building new revenue streams in enterprise AI to reduce dependence on advertising income.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said on the Q2 2026 earnings call that the company's enterprise AI strategy extends beyond AI agents to include APIs, compute sales, and internal productivity tools offered to external customers.
During Meta's second-quarter 2026 earnings call on July 29, CEO Mark Zuckerberg outlined an expansive enterprise AI strategy that goes well beyond the business-facing AI agent Meta launched in June 2026. Zuckerberg stated: 'We see a large enterprise opportunity to sell to businesses, including APIs, business agents, potentially selling compute directly, and other services that we're building for large customers.' In the near term, Meta will focus on its existing base of advertisers — millions of small businesses — offering AI agents that operate across messaging apps. 'Just like the ad system, we will get paid when we deliver results for those businesses,' Zuckerberg said. He also revealed that internal tools Meta built for coding, development, and productivity could eventually be offered to outside customers. On compute sales, Zuckerberg noted Meta can currently sell compute 'at a significant premium' over cost but cautioned it 'would be foolish' to sell all available capacity for short-term gain, describing a 'portfolio' approach balancing near-term revenue with long-term infrastructure needs. He acknowledged that enterprise sales represent a 'different muscle' for Meta, which has historically relied on advertising for the bulk of its revenue.
