Angle Health raises $200M Series C at $2.7B valuation

Why This Matters
Profitable insuretech at $2.7B shows level-funded health plans are becoming a serious small-business market.
Health insurance startup Angle Health, a Y Combinator winter 2020 alum, raised a $200 million Series C plus a $400 million tender offer at a $2.7 billion valuation. The round was led by Vitruvian Partners, with Town Hall Ventures, Blumberg Capital, Portage Ventures, PruVen Capital, and YC participating.
Founded in 2019 and based in the Y Combinator winter 2020 cohort, Angle Health announced Friday it closed a $200 million Series C alongside a $400 million tender offer — the latter letting employees cash out a portion of their equity. The round, led by Vitruvian Partners, values the company at $2.7 billion and is expected to close by end of September 2026.
Angle Health targets the so-called level-funded health plan market for small businesses — a middle ground between fully insured plans (where carriers absorb all risk, at higher cost) and self-funded plans (where the employer shoulders unpredictable expenses). Level-funded plans let businesses make fixed monthly payments, get coverage against cost spikes, and potentially receive surplus refunds when claims run low.
The company's AI-powered platform helps small businesses select and administer these plans, integrating directly with payroll and HR systems. Angle says it now serves over 5,000 businesses and has reached profitability — a relatively unusual combination for a 2019-vintage startup that isn't primarily billing itself as an AI agent play.
