X launches History tab for bookmarks, likes, videos, articles
Original: X launches a History tab for bookmarks, likes, videos, and articles
Why This Matters
Positions X as content consumption platform amid declining referral traffic to external sites
X introduces new History tab on iOS, consolidating bookmarks, likes, videos, and articles into one location. Feature automatically tracks watched videos and read articles, making X function more like a web browser with viewing history.
X has launched a History tab replacing the Bookmarks button in its iOS mobile app's left-side menu. The feature organizes content into four sections: bookmarks, likes, videos, and articles. While bookmarks and likes require intentional saves, videos and articles tabs automatically populate based on user viewing behavior. X head of product Nikita Bier said the feature helps users track favorite content and return to items for later reading or watching. The History section remains private to users. The update consolidates previously scattered features and could boost usage of X's long-form article format as the platform positions itself as an alternative to traditional web publishers experiencing declining referral traffic from Facebook and Google.
