Woman alleges stepfather used Grok to generate 7,000+ CSAM images
Original: Woman claims her stepfather used Grok to transform childhood photo into explicit imagery
Why This Matters
The case highlights growing legal and safety accountability pressure on AI companies over generative CSAM risks.
A woman identified as Jane Doe 4 has joined a lawsuit against xAI, alleging her stepfather used Grok to transform a childhood photo of her into more than 7,000 explicit images. The stepfather was found dead of suicide two days after a law enforcement raid uncovered the images.
Jane Doe 4 has joined an existing lawsuit filed by three Tennessee teenagers against Elon Musk's xAI — now part of SpaceX — over Grok's alleged role in generating child sexual abuse material (CSAM). According to a Washington Post report, the woman stated her stepfather used Grok to manipulate a photo taken when she was 11 years old, producing more than 7,000 explicit images. Two days after law enforcement raided and uncovered the images, the stepfather was found dead of suicide. 'Limitless access to these tools is spreading so quickly,' the woman said. 'It is taking everyday life and turning it into child sexual abuse.' The original teenage plaintiffs allege xAI failed to implement basic safeguards to prevent Grok from generating explicit images of real people, including minors. Earlier in 2026, X was reportedly flooded with millions of Grok-generated sexualized images. The lawsuit is seeking class action status. TechCrunch stated it has reached out to xAI for comment. xAI had not responded publicly at the time of publication.
