Steve Rosenbaum's The Future of Truth, examining how AI affects perceptions of reality, came under fire after The New York Times reported it contained over half a dozen fabricated or misattributed quotes. Rosenbaum admitted including 'improperly attributed or synthetic' quotes accidentally. WIRED's investigation using AI detection tool Pangram found 53% of the book appeared AI-generated with additional 9% likely AI-assisted. Rosenbaum acknowledged using ChatGPT, Claude, NaturalReaders, ProWritingAid, and Grammarly for 'research and editorial development' including source discovery, brainstorming, structural feedback, and language refinement. He insisted final authorship remained his but refused to comment on Pangram's detection results.
