WallHop: A Free 12ft.io Replacement
Original: WallHop – 12ft.io is gone, so I built a replacement
Why This Matters
Fills a real gap left by 12ft.io's shutdown for casual paywall workarounds.
WallHop is a free paywall-bypass tool launched after 12ft.io shut down. Users paste any URL to read paywalled articles, with no signup required. It also supports an iOS shortcut, URL prefix, and bookmarklet.
When 12ft.io went dark, developer wafflehacker.dev built WallHop as a direct replacement. The tool is simple: paste a link, skip the paywall, read the article. No account, no friction. Beyond the web interface, WallHop offers three access methods — an iPhone Shortcut for Share sheet integration, a URL prefix (just prepend / to any link), and a drag-to-bookmark bookmarklet. A raw and API endpoint (/raw/ and /api/) is also available for developers. The project is built on a heavily modified fork of the open-source everywall/ladder (GPL-3.0). Funding runs through Ko-fi donations. The site includes an honest caveat: "Paywalls pay for journalism. If there's a paper or news site you read every day, please subscribe to it. WallHop is for the one-off article someone texts you from a site you'll never visit again."
