Cloudflare announced the acquisition of VoidZero, the company behind the popular JavaScript build tool Vite, with all team members joining Cloudflare. VoidZero also develops testing framework Vitest, bundler Rolldown, parser Oxc, and framework Vite+. Cloudflare emphasized that all tools will remain MIT-licensed, open source, vendor-agnostic, and community-driven. Vite serves as foundation for major frameworks including Vue, SvelteKit, Nuxt, Astro, Solid, Qwik, Angular, and React Router. Cloudflare commits $1 million to a Vite ecosystem fund to support maintainers and contributors, administered by the Vite core team. The acquisition follows Cloudflare's earlier acquisition of Astro. Evan You and the VoidZero team will continue leading development of all projects.
