The post also reviewed the project's history: launched on Kickstarter in 2020 with $5 million raised, the team faced post-COVID supply chain disruptions, component shortages, and widespread public skepticism before eventually delivering hardware to all backers.
On the technical side, the team noted that Flipper Zero's firmware is constrained to 700 KB of flash memory. To work around this limitation, the team developed a dynamic app-loading system from microSD cards, which became the architectural foundation of the stable firmware 1.0 release in 2024. The company stated that all Kickstarter campaign features have been implemented and that Flipper Zero is now available in most countries following extensive regulatory certification work.
