Pro-AI Super PAC Funneled $140M Via Nevada Shell Firms

Why This Matters

Opacity in AI political spending raises serious accountability questions ahead of midterms.

Leading the Future PAC, backed by Silicon Valley AI investors, has raised $140M+ for the 2026 midterms and routed tens of millions through Nevada LLCs with no apparent real presence—drawing FEC complaints.

Leading the Future, the largest pro-AI super PAC network in the U.S., has channeled millions of dollars through at least four Nevada-registered LLCs that appear to be little more than post office boxes and strip-mall addresses, according to federal campaign finance records reviewed by WIRED.

The network's Think Big PAC paid roughly $20 million to Lantern Production Consultants LLC—a company whose only traceable address is a PO box inside a Sparks, Nevada shopping center that also houses a Spirit Halloween and a Vietnamese restaurant. A second entity, Summit Ridge Media Group LLC, received around $13 million from American Mission PAC; its address points to a Reno mail center. Two more LLCs—Blue Horizon Compliance Consultants and Prusik Partners LLC—list a Reno Staples and a Henderson strip mall, respectively.

Election watchdog Campaign Legal Center filed an FEC complaint in May alleging the network violated the Federal Election Campaign Act by obscuring actual payment recipients. Senior legal counsel Shanna Ports says plainly: "This is about hiding where the money is going."

Leading the Future spokesperson Jesse Hunt denied wrongdoing, calling the scrutiny "a desperate ploy for attention" from rival groups including Anthropic-aligned organizations. The PAC claims to support candidates backing an "AI innovation policy agenda" on both sides of the aisle.
