Grok chatbot struggles to gain enterprise and government adoption
Original: Stop trying to make Grok happen — Reuters report suggests government and enterprise customers don’t like xAI's chatbot. Does anybody?
Why This Matters
Low government adoption signals broader enterprise market challenges for xAI
Reuters report finds xAI's Grok chatbot appeared in only 3 of 400+ government AI use cases, compared to OpenAI's 230+ appearances. Government adoption data suggests limited enterprise appeal for Elon Musk's AI product.
A Reuters investigation of government AI usage reveals xAI's Grok chatbot has minimal adoption among federal agencies. In a review of over 400 government AI implementations where vendors were specifically named, Grok appeared only three times for basic tasks like document drafting and social media management, always alongside competitors. OpenAI's models appeared in more than 230 cases, while Google and Anthropic each had dozens of mentions. The pattern repeated in a database of ambitious government AI projects, where Grok appeared three times for routine tasks at the Election Assistance Commission and one Department of Energy pilot at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Microsoft and OpenAI had 140 combined entries in this category.
