Why This Matters
Major streaming platform enters crowded fitness market, potentially disrupting workout app ecosystem
Spotify announced Monday it's expanding into fitness content with a new hub featuring workout videos and playlists. The company partnered with Peloton to offer 1,400 ad-free workout classes to Premium users, plus content from wellness creators like Yoga With Kassandra and Chloe Ting.
Spotify is launching a fitness content category, accessible through a new 'Fitness' hub or by searching 'fitness'. Both free and Premium users can access dozens of playlists and workout content from creators including Yoga With Kassandra, Chloe Ting, and Sweaty Studio. Premium users in select markets get access to over 1,400 ad-free Peloton workout classes covering strength, cardio, yoga, and meditation without needing Peloton equipment. Content is available in English, Spanish, and German, with offline download capability. Spotify cited data showing 70% of Premium subscribers work out monthly and over 150 million fitness playlists exist on the platform. Creators can monetize through existing Spotify Partner Program tools.
