Scimplify Raises $25M to Diversify Critical Materials Supply
Original: Scimplify raises $25M to challenge China’s grip on critical materials with AI
Why This Matters
Supply chain diversification away from China is a strategic priority across defense, chips, and energy sectors.
Indian startup Scimplify raised $25M in a strategic equity round led by Hitachi Ventures, valuing it at $250M. The Bengaluru firm uses AI to cut specialty chemical development from 18 months to 2 months, targeting semiconductor, defense, and energy sectors.
Scimplify, founded in 2023, is betting that AI-assisted chemical manufacturing can chip away at China's dominance in specialty materials supply chains. The $25M round included new investors Henkel and Teknor Apex—both customers—alongside existing backers Accel India, Bertelsmann India Investments, Omnivore, and 3one4 Capital. The post-money valuation of $250M is up sharply from $150M after its $40M Series B in March 2025, bringing total equity raised to $80M.
The core pitch: compressing the time from customer requirement to delivered material from the industry-standard 12–18 months down to as little as two months. Scimplify develops manufacturing processes at its Bengaluru and Hyderabad research facilities, then hands production off to a network of over 500 partner factories—roughly 90% of them in India.
Its proprietary platform, Scinode, orchestrates the process using specialized AI agents for research, manufacturing, and quality control. Co-founder Sachin Santhosh described the system as working backward from customer requirements: "This helps us move a lot faster and remember customer context even for future references." The platform identifies viable production routes, suitable facilities, and tracks regulatory and quality requirements throughout.
