Why This Matters

Demonstrates AI expansion into hardware design and maker communities adoption

Amsterdam-based Schematik, described as 'Cursor for Hardware,' raised $4.6 million from Lightspeed Venture Partners. The AI-powered tool helps users design and build physical devices by generating parts lists and assembly guides.

Samuel Beek created Schematik after blowing his house fuses building a ChatGPT-designed electric door opener. The tool, powered by Anthropic's Claude, helps users design physical devices through conversational AI. Users describe what they want to build, and Schematik suggests components and assembly instructions. The platform gained traction after Beek's February X post, with users creating devices like MP3 players and Tamagotchi-style bots. Anthropic recently announced a Bluetooth API for hardware makers, enabling devices to interact with Claude. Marc Vermeeren from N8N, who built several devices using Schematik, also became an investor. The company is working on integrated shopping lists for components.
