SAP acquired German AI startup Prior Labs, founded 18 months ago by Frank Hutter, Noah Hollmann and Sauraj Gambhir. The company plans €1 billion investment over four years to develop the startup into an AI lab focused on tabular foundation models (TFMs) for structured enterprise data. Sources indicate founders received over $500 million cash upfront in the acquisition. SAP simultaneously updated its API policy to block unauthorized AI agents like OpenClaw, while allowing SAP-endorsed architectures including its own Joule Agents and Nvidia's NemoClaw through the Agent Toolkit partnership announced in March.
