OpenAI announced on July 23, 2026 that ChatGPT Health is now available to all U.S. users aged 18 and over across free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans. The feature supports health queries reaching 300 million per week, up from 230 million during initial testing in January 2026.
OpenAI has rolled out ChatGPT Health to all logged-in U.S. users on web and iOS, expanding a feature that was previously limited to a dedicated hub tested since January 2026. Users can now integrate health data from Apple Health, MyFitnessPal, Function, and medical records from Epic, Oracle Health, One Medical, and Function Health directly into general chat queries. OpenAI noted that 70% of health-related queries occurred outside the dedicated hub during testing, prompting the broader integration. Weekly health-related queries have grown from 230 million to 300 million. OpenAI also highlighted that GPT 5.6-Luna, its smallest model from the latest release, outperforms GPT 5.5 on HealthBench, an open-source benchmark for evaluating LLMs on health queries. The company states it does not use health data to train its models and collaborates with physicians to improve accuracy. Despite these advances, OpenAI maintains in its terms that its services are 'not intended for use in the diagnosis or treatment of any health condition.' The announcement came one day after a Florida pastor filed a lawsuit alleging ChatGPT provided a near-fatal suggestion to avoid consulting a doctor. OpenAI cited its disclaimer clauses in response and told The New York Times it is working to make health-related answers safer.
