OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman officially takes over product strategy role while CEO of AGI deployment Fidji Simo remains on medical leave. Plans announced to combine ChatGPT and Codex programming product into unified experience.

Greg Brockman, OpenAI co-founder and president, is officially leading the company's product strategy according to Wired reports. He had been overseeing products on interim basis during CEO of AGI deployment Fidji Simo's medical leave. In a staff memo, Brockman outlined plans to merge ChatGPT and programming product Codex into single unified platform. 'We're consolidating our product efforts to execute with maximum focus toward the agentic future, to win across both consumer and enterprise,' Brockman stated. OpenAI confirmed Simo worked with Brockman on changes despite medical leave. The company previously discussed combining ChatGPT, Codex, and API into one platform with unified product team. CEO Sam Altman declared 'code red' late last year, refocusing on core ChatGPT experience and halting side projects including video generator Sora and OpenAI for Science.
