Notion launches AI agent hub with developer platform
Original: Notion just turned its workspace into a hub for AI agents
Why This Matters
Notion transforms from productivity app to AI orchestration platform, competing in enterprise automation market
Notion unveiled a developer platform transforming its workspace into an AI agent hub. The new Workers feature allows custom code deployment, external data syncing from databases like Salesforce, and automated multi-step workflows.
Notion introduced a developer platform extending its AI agent capabilities beyond basic note-taking. The company's Custom Agents, launched in February, now number over one million built by customers. The new Workers feature provides a cloud-based environment for running custom code in secure sandboxes, enabling data syncing, custom tools, and webhook triggers without external infrastructure. Database sync functionality can pull data from sources like Salesforce, Zendesk, and Postgres into Notion databases. CEO Ivan Zhao noted this positions Notion as a hub where people and agents collaborate across tools and databases. The platform supports Model Context Protocol for connecting AI tools to external services. Workers will use the same credit system as Custom Agents but remain free through August for developer experimentation.
