Netflix announced expansion of its redesigned mobile app to South Korea and Japan in July, following rollouts in Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, India, and Malaysia. The company also expanded Netflix Playground gaming hub with KPop Demon Hunters content.
Netflix revealed expansion plans during its APAC Product Innovation Showcase. The redesigned mobile app features 'Clips,' a vertical video feed for short-form content browsing. Netflix plans to test themed Clip collections organized by moods, genres, and interests, including reality TV moments and behind-the-scenes footage. The company is expanding Netflix Playground, its children's gaming hub, with six mini-games based on 'KPop Demon Hunters,' which generated over 518 million views in six months. Netflix Playground launched in April in the U.S., Canada, and UK, with global scaling planned.
