Meta's new agentic AI app Muse reached No. 2 on the US iOS App Store after surpassing 83,000 downloads since its Tuesday launch, per Sensor Tower data. The app is currently US-only and also available via web and WhatsApp, though its Android ranking sits at a distant No. 338 in Productivity.
Meta launched Muse on Tuesday, positioning it as its flagship bet on agentic AI — software that acts on users' behalf rather than just answering questions. Within days, Sensor Tower recorded over 83,000 US iOS downloads, enough to push Muse from fourth place to No. 2 on the App Store's Top Charts as of September 10.
The numbers tell a mixed story. Muse's debut trails Meta's own track record: Threads pulled 4.3 million US downloads on day one, and the Meta AI app hit 108,000 in its first 24 hours. Against ChatGPT, the gap is starker — OpenAI's chatbot cleared 500,000 US installs in under a week at launch, averaging roughly 83,300 per day. Muse took about twice as long to reach that same single-day figure.
On Android, momentum is thin: Muse ranks No. 338 in the Google Play Productivity category, with download figures not yet available. Web and WhatsApp access channels are excluded from these estimates entirely.
Meta is entering a crowded field. Google's Gemini Spark and Anthropic's Claude Cowork are among the competitors targeting the same space. The more direct threat may be Instinct, a text-message-based AI agent recently valued at $2.5 billion that has earned strong word-of-mouth in Silicon Valley despite reported security and privacy concerns.
