At Connect 2026, Meta unveiled VR Glasses — a form factor reset from the bulky Quest headsets. The device weighs a fraction of its predecessors, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Reality Elite chip and a pocket-sized computing puck that doubles as its battery. Lenses pack micro-OLED panels delivering a 5K Infinite Display at 37 pixels per degree, with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support baked in.
The headline feature is IMAX: Meta claims these are the "first IMAX Enhanced certified VR device ever," letting users experience the expanded aspect ratio unique to IMAX-captured films. A Disney+ partnership adds another entertainment hook — starting in November, select Marvel and other Disney titles will stream in 3D, with the user's physical surroundings blended into the viewing experience via immersive environments and spatial audio.
Meta AI is embedded as a voice assistant, enabling hands-free commands like launching a film by simply asking. Hand gestures offer an alternative input method. The glasses will go on sale next spring starting at $1,299.99.
