Meta announced Thursday an improved Meta Account system rolling out over the next year, allowing users to set up a single password for all Meta ecosystem apps including Facebook, WhatsApp, and Meta AI glasses, with enhanced security features and centralized parental controls.
Meta's new unified account system addresses the complexity of managing multiple logins across its expanding ecosystem of Facebook, WhatsApp, Meta AI glasses, and other services. The system builds on the existing Accounts Center but offers more centralized management capabilities. Users can opt for a single password protected by Passkeys using fingerprints, face recognition, or device passwords. The system includes security recommendations for multi-factor authentication and login alerts across devices. Parents will benefit from enhanced Family Center dashboard controls to manage teen supervision across Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, and Meta Horizon from one location. App-specific settings like Facebook post visibility and Instagram photo tagging remain managed within individual apps. Users retain choice to keep accounts separate or link/unlink them at any time.
