JetKVM Mini: $39 matchbox-sized KVM launches October 2026
Original: JetKVM Mini
Why This Matters
Sub-$40 open-source KVM pricing lowers the bar for per-machine remote access in homelabs and small data centers.
JetKVM announced the JetKVM Mini on September 11, 2026 — a 42×42×23mm aluminium KVM device starting at $39 (Ethernet) or $42 (Wi-Fi). It captures 1080p video, supports keyboard/mouse/virtual media over USB, and ships with open-source firmware built on the ESP32-P4X. Available October 26, 2026.
JetKVM Mini comes in two models: a wired Ethernet version at $39 and a wireless Mini W at $42. Three-packs drop to $33 and $36 per unit respectively. The enclosure is aluminium, roughly matchbox-sized at 42×42×23mm, with a status display on top and physical buttons on the side.
Hardware centers on the ESP32-P4X microcontroller, which handles 1080p/30fps or 720p/60fps video capture, on-chip H.264 encoding, and USB — all without the separate DRAM and eMMC a Linux-based system requires. The Mini W adds an ESP32-C5 for dual-band Wi-Fi (802.11ax), Bluetooth LE setup, and IEEE 802.15.4 (Zigbee/Thread). Virtual media runs from a user-supplied TF card. A second USB port supports extensions and can act as a USB host with external power.
Setup on the wired model is straightforward: plug in Ethernet, HDMI, and USB, then read the IP from the display. The Mini W configures over Bluetooth from a phone or laptop browser. Firmware is open-source from launch and shares the same web interface and cloud as the original JetKVM. 4K capture is available via JetKVM OS Services.
