Indian customer engagement software firm MoEngage acquired San Francisco-based Aampe in an all-cash deal worth tens of millions of dollars. Aampe develops AI agents that make personalized decisions for individual customers, replacing traditional audience segmentation in marketing campaigns.
MoEngage, an Indian customer engagement software company, has completed an all-cash acquisition of Aampe, a San Francisco-based startup founded in 2020. The deal amount was not disclosed officially, but TechCrunch sources confirmed it was worth tens of millions of dollars. Aampe's technology assigns a dedicated AI agent to each customer, enabling personalized messaging based on individual behavior rather than traditional audience segments and campaign rules. The startup serves more than 30 customers across the U.S., Europe, and Asia-Pacific regions, with 150% annual recurring revenue growth in the past year, according to MoEngage co-founder and CEO Raviteja Dodda. Aampe's clients include Swiggy, Grab, and Taxfix. Dodda stated the acquisition aims to help MoEngage win enterprise customers migrating from competitors like Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Adobe Experience Cloud. MoEngage recently secured three to four multi-million-dollar annual contract value deals from Salesforce customers. Approximately 20 Aampe employees will join MoEngage, bringing the company's total workforce to roughly 820. The acquisition reflects broader industry trends of embedding AI deeper into enterprise applications for autonomous decision-making in marketing. Aampe has raised approximately 28 million dollars across three funding rounds from Peak XV Partners, Z47, and Theory Ventures. This acquisition follows MoEngage's 280 million dollar fundraise completed six months prior.
