Honeyjar Brings AI to PR and Comms Work

Original: Honeyjar offers AI tools to improve PR and comms at every company

Why This Matters

AI entering the $100B+ PR industry could reshape how comms scales across startups and beyond.

Honeyjar, a PR-focused AI startup founded by two comms veterans, launched with 10,000 waitlist signups. It automates pitching, media list building, coverage tracking, and announcement writing for founders and non-PR professionals alike.

Honeyjar is an AI platform built to bring senior-level PR judgment to anyone responsible for communications — whether they hold that title or not. Founded by CEO Michelle Masek and CCO Nadia Jamshidi, both with decades of PR experience, the startup is appearing in TechCrunch Disrupt's Startup Battlefield 200 this week.

Masek previously served as SVP of Marketing and Communications at Obvious Ventures, Ev Williams' VC firm, where she managed comms support across 110 portfolio companies. That scale problem became the seed of Honeyjar.

The platform handles tasks like drafting press announcements, identifying relevant journalists, surfacing speaking opportunities, scanning news and social media, and tracking coverage. Jamshidi describes the larger goal as unifying the full comms workflow — signals, strategy, timing, and execution — not just media relations.

Honeyjar's target audience is unusually broad. Masek argues that "millions and millions" of people handle communications without the formal title — marketers, investors, creators, school administrators. The startup explicitly positions itself as a tool for PR professionals too, potentially letting solo practitioners take on additional clients without added overhead.

The waitlist opened to 10,000 signups, suggesting strong early interest.
