X introduced Custom Timelines as one of its biggest app changes, using Grok AI to create personalized feeds across 75+ topics. Unlike traditional keyword-based systems, Grok reads and understands every post to apply topic labels. Users can pin up to 10 custom feeds alongside their For You and Following tabs. The feature launches exclusively for Premium subscribers on iOS, with Android support planned. X head of product Nikita Bier noted the timelines work better for topics users already engage with. The launch coincides with X shutting down its underused Communities feature. Ads appear in the second position of each custom feed, potentially increasing X's ad inventory amid reported struggles with advertising revenue since Musk's acquisition.
