Google announced on September 4, 2026, that its personal AI agent Gemini Spark now supports Google Photos management. Google Photos lead Shimrit Ben-Yair shared the news on X, noting she personally has 143,206 photos and videos she hopes the agent will help manage.
With Gemini Spark connected to Google Photos, users can request tasks such as editing images, curating albums, automatically generating shared albums from favorite shots, converting concert flyer photos into calendar appointments, and running custom workflows.
The feature is rolling out over the next few weeks to eligible Gemini AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the U.S. in English. Google did not announce a timeline for international expansion.
To use the feature, users must first connect Google Photos to Gemini, toggle on Spark within the Gemini app, and enter a prompt.
The announcement comes as industry leaders debate AI's consumer appeal. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated this week that the industry has "done a terrible job" communicating AI's benefits to the public. Google's move reflects broader efforts to demonstrate practical consumer value through AI-powered automation of everyday tasks.
