Google Search Console adds 'platform properties' for creators
Original: Google Search lets creators know more about their reach
Why This Matters
Expands Google Search's role as a cross-platform discovery tool, giving creators actionable audience data beyond their own websites.
Google announced a new 'platform properties' feature in Search Console on July 7, 2026, allowing creators and publishers to track which search terms lead users to their Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube content directly from Google Search.
Google is expanding its Search Console with a new feature called 'platform properties,' designed to give content creators and website owners greater visibility into how audiences discover their social media and video content through Google Search. According to a Google blog post, the tool lets creators 'easily track which search terms lead people to your Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube content on Search, and see exactly how your audience is interacting with your posts.' The announcement builds on a June 2026 update in which Google began allowing prominent creators and publishers to claim dedicated Search profiles that can feature links to external platforms and pin videos from TikTok and Instagram. Google stated: 'Content creators and publishers use many channels beyond their own websites to reach their audiences. As people gravitate towards first-hand perspectives and different content formats, we want to make it easier for site owners and creators' to understand their reach. The move reflects Google's broader strategy to position Search as a centralized discovery hub for creator content across multiple platforms.
