Google announced on August 10, 2026 that Venmo is now available as a payment method on Google Play for apps, games, add-ons, and digital content. Users can pay via Venmo's wallet or linked bank accounts and cards, including for subscriptions and in-app creator tips.
Google has added Venmo as a supported payment option on Google Play, expanding the platform's digital wallet offerings. Users can link their Venmo account through the payment methods section in their Google account settings. Once linked, Venmo's balance or connected payment methods — including bank accounts and debit or credit cards — can be used to purchase apps, games, add-ons, subscriptions, and to tip creators within content-based apps. Google Play already supports PayPal, Cash App, and major credit cards from American Express, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and JCB in the United States. The company has also tested cash payment options at physical retail locations outside the U.S. The expansion comes as global app store spending continues to grow: according to analytics firm Sensor Tower, combined iOS and Google Play in-app purchase spending surpassed $167 billion in 2025, a 10.6% year-over-year increase.
