Expands Google's enterprise AI offerings in geospatial technology market

Google unveiled generative AI features for Google Maps and geospatial apps at Cloud Next, targeting enterprise users. New capabilities include AI-powered Street View scene creation, satellite imagery analysis, and pre-trained Earth AI models for object identification.

Google announced new AI features for its mapping platform at Cloud Next in Las Vegas, focusing on enterprise applications. Maps Imagery Grounding allows users to create realistic Street View scenes through text prompts using Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, enabling visualization of projects like movie sets or construction sites. The company expanded satellite imagery analysis with Aerial and Satellite Insights, letting users analyze data stored in Google Cloud's BigQuery, reducing weeks of work to minutes. Google also launched two Earth AI Imagery models trained to identify objects like bridges, roads, and power lines in geospatial imagery. Previously, companies spent months building custom AI systems for such analysis. The features build on Google's Earth AI platform, already used by partners including Airbus and Boston Children's Hospital for environmental monitoring and disaster response.
