Index Ventures raises $2B across three new funds
Original: Fresh off its Wiz payout, Index Ventures raises $2B across three funds
Why This Matters
Index's $2B raise signals sustained LP confidence in disciplined, high-performing venture firms amid selective market conditions.
Index Ventures announced on July 31, 2026, the close of $2 billion in new capital across three funds: a $400M seed fund, a $900M venture fund, and a $700M add-on to its 2024 growth fund, bringing total available capital to $3.5 billion.
Index Ventures, the 30-year-old venture firm, announced Friday it has raised $2 billion across three funds. The breakdown includes $400 million for a new seed-focused fund, $900 million for a new venture fund, and an additional $700 million added to a $1.5 billion growth fund originally raised in 2024 — bringing total available capital to $3.5 billion. This compares to the firm's prior $2.3 billion raise two years ago across two funds, which included $800 million for a predecessor venture fund. The fundraise follows a high-profile exit: earlier in 2026, Index portfolio company Wiz completed its $32 billion acquisition by Alphabet. Index had backed Wiz at the seed stage and held a 12% stake as its largest outside shareholder, a position Reuters estimated to be worth approximately $3.8 billion. Index was also an early investor in Figma, which went public last year. The firm's current AI portfolio includes robotics company Physical Intelligence, inference platform Fireworks AI, and Anthropic, which it backed when the AI company raised at a $183 billion valuation in September 2025.
