Aina Smart Ring: A Button for Your AI Agent
Original: Exclusive: Aina’s Smart Ring Wants to Be a Remote Control for Your AI Agent
Why This Matters
Physical AI-agent interfaces signal a new hardware category beyond screens.
Startup Aina has launched a smart ring priced at $399 (rising to $499) that lets users approve or reject AI agent actions with a joystick tap, skipping the phone entirely. Shipping starts January 2027.
Aina, a startup that spent 15 months in stealth, is betting that approving and rejecting AI agent actions will define how people use technology. Its Aina Ring features a small display and a joystick-style button, letting users confirm or dismiss agent suggestions without reaching for their phone. CEO Apoorv Shankar, formerly VP of hardware at Ultrahuman, argues the phone will become a bottleneck as AI agents multiply.
The titanium ring pairs with Macs or iPhones and runs what Aina calls a Context Aware Operating System. It pulls from calendar, location, email, and third-party apps like Uber and Spotify to surface what it calls "Aina Cues" — proactive suggestions timed to your routines. Running late for Zoom? The ring asks if it should send an apology email. Heading out at 6 am? It offers to resume your podcast. The joystick doubles as a music playback control.
Aina previously debuted at CES 2026 under the name Project Mirage, with a Mac accessory called Dune that mapped buttons to context-aware shortcuts. User data from Dune informed the ring's design. Preorders are open now at $399, rising to $499 at launch in January 2027.
