Ex-Tesla team raises $12.5M for AI supply chain startup Atomic

Original: Ex-Tesla team raises $12.5M to put supply chains on autopilot

Why This Matters

Autonomous supply chain decisions at DoorDash scale signal enterprise AI moving from recommendation to execution.

Atomic, a Boston-based supply chain AI startup founded by ex-Tesla engineers, has raised a $12.5M Series A led by Klass Capital and Madrona Venture Group. The company's ARR has quintupled in 2026, with clients including DoorDash and HelloFresh. Total funding now exceeds $15M.

Atomic came out of stealth last year with a pitch rooted in hard experience: co-founders Michael Rossiter and Neal Suidan built an early version of its inventory optimization system inside Tesla during the chaotic 2018 Model 3 production ramp, when spreadsheets simply couldn't keep pace with how fast plans changed. The startup's core product simulates scenarios to determine how much inventory a company should hold and where — then either recommends a course of action or acts autonomously. DoorDash, for example, is running roughly 90% of its purchasing decisions across hundreds of sites through Atomic's platform, according to Jon McNeill, former Tesla president and founder of DVx Ventures, where Atomic was incubated. HelloFresh is also a client. ARR has quintupled since January 2026. The $12.5M Series A, which brings total funding to just over $15M, was led by Klass Capital and Madrona Venture Group. The company has also added Jeff Goodrich — a longtime Tesla planning director — as CTO and third co-founder. CEO Rossiter described supply chain management as 'an infinite search space for optimization,' arguing AI is well-suited to navigating constant, complex tradeoffs across industries from food delivery to consumer packaged goods.
