X Money app launches in the US for paid subscribers
Original: Elon Musk’s X Money app is rolling out in the US
Why This Matters
X's entry into fintech signals a major push to expand social media into full-service financial services.
X launched its X Money financial app on July 27, 2026, for US-based Premium and Premium+ subscribers. The service includes an X Visa debit card with no foreign transaction fees, fee-free global ATM withdrawals, instant peer-to-peer transfers, up to 6% APY, and up to 3% cash back on select purchases.
X began rolling out its X Money app to US Premium and Premium+ subscribers on July 27, 2026. Users receive a virtual X Visa debit card immediately, which can be added to Apple Pay, and a physical card will follow. The physical card carries no foreign transaction fees and offers free cash withdrawals at ATMs worldwide. Peer-to-peer transfers within the app are instant, fee-free, and without limits. Premium+ subscribers ($40/month or $395/year) automatically qualify for a 6% APY. Standard Premium subscribers ($8/month or $84/year) can access the same 6% APY by linking a direct deposit. Both tiers are eligible for up to 3% cash back on certain purchases, and direct deposit users can access their funds a few days early. X Money describes the launch as part of Elon Musk's long-held ambition to build an 'everything app.' Musk originally founded X.com as a financial services company in 1999, which later became PayPal. After acquiring X in 2022, he renamed the platform X and repurchased the X.com domain, repeatedly stating his intent to transform it into a super-app.
