Why This Matters

Major creative software update brings AI-powered editing tools to mainstream video production

Blackmagic Design released DaVinci Resolve 21 with new Photo page for still photography editing, AI-powered content search, speech generation, face aging tools, and enhanced workflows across Edit, Color, Fusion, and Fairlight pages.

DaVinci Resolve 21 introduces a dedicated Photo page bringing Hollywood-grade color tools to still photography. Key AI features include IntelliSearch for finding people and objects in media, AI Speech Generator that creates voices from 10-second samples, AI CineFocus for adjustable depth of field, and AI Face Age Transformer for aging/de-aging actors. The Edit and Cut pages gain improved keyframing and graphics support. Color workflows now feature MultiMaster trim passes and layer list node graphs. Fusion adds 70+ new graphics via the Krokodove toolset. Fairlight introduces folder functions for better audio management. The update also expands VR and immersive workflow support. DaVinci Resolve remains free, while Studio version costs $295.
