Twin brothers Muneeb and Sohaib Akhter pleaded guilty to destroying 96 government databases after being fired from federal contractor Opexus. Their revenge plot was inadvertently recorded on Microsoft Teams.
The 34-year-old brothers were fired from Opexus after their employer discovered their criminal records including hacking and wire fraud charges. They forgot to close the Teams meeting where they were terminated, which continued recording for hours as they planned and executed their revenge attack. Court documents revealed transcripts of their conversation, including quotes like 'Delete all their databases?' and 'We are doing petty shit now.' The twins destroyed 96 government databases in their act of vengeance. Muneeb has since attempted to recant his guilty plea in handwritten notes to the judge.
