Cursor says India is already its third-largest market globally and has the highest concentration of power users on its platform, with its Indian user base more than tripling over the past year. Simon Green, Cursor's head of Asia-Pacific and Japan, told TechCrunch India was the natural first choice for localized pricing given the country's engineering talent depth and scale. GitHub reported earlier in 2026 that India has over 27 million developers on its platform — second only to the U.S. — with more than two million joining in 2026 alone.
Cursor Start includes access to Composer 2.5, Grok 4.5, cloud agents, the iOS app, plugins, Model Context Protocol support, hooks, and skills. It does not include frontier AI models from OpenAI or Anthropic, nor advanced features like Bugbot, Auto Mode, Automations, or the Cursor SDK. Payments are supported via credit/debit cards and India's UPI system. Cursor said it will use multiple safeguards, including anti-VPN measures, to restrict the plan to individual users in India. Green indicated localized pricing could expand to additional markets if the India model proves successful.
