Chrome's AI Autofill Can Now Search Your Gmail

Original: Chrome’s AI-powered Autofill can now dig through your Gmail to fill out forms

Why This Matters

Deeper Gmail-browser integration strengthens Google's hold on daily workflows.

Google announced on Oct. 28, 2026 that Chrome's autofill will use AI to pull data—flight numbers, order IDs, addresses, credit cards—directly from users' Gmail inboxes to pre-fill online forms.

Google is expanding Chrome's autofill with an AI layer that references users' Gmail to surface relevant information while filling out web forms. The feature can retrieve flight confirmation numbers, membership IDs, tracking numbers, order numbers, addresses, phone numbers, and credit card details directly from email history.

The update builds on Google's existing Personal Intelligence platform, which already lets users link Google Apps to the Gemini AI assistant for complex queries. This is its first direct integration into browser autofill.

Google draws a parallel to Apple's one-tap SMS verification code feature—a small convenience that quietly deepens platform lock-in. The company says sensitive data is encrypted, and users can opt in or out via Chrome settings.

The rollout targets U.S. users initially, available on Chrome desktop and within the Gemini in Chrome iOS and Android apps.
