OpenAI announced on September 23, 2026, that ChatGPT's mobile app now supports voice-based agentic workflows. Plus and Pro subscribers can use the Work tab to draft documents, summarize emails, or build sites via voice. Free and Go users gain access to plugins and connected apps.
OpenAI is bringing voice-driven agentic capabilities to ChatGPT's mobile app, letting users trigger multi-step workflows by speaking. Plus and Pro subscribers get the most out of it: the Work tab on mobile now supports document creation, email drafting, Slack message summarization, site building, presentation creation, and cloud browser access. Financial tools inside ChatGPT are also available through this tier. Free and Go users, meanwhile, get plugin and connected-app support. Voice conversations will also produce richer text output, and users can switch freely between voice and text modes — or start a task on mobile and pick it up on desktop later. The move follows OpenAI's July launch of GPT-Live, a conversational model that was subsequently integrated into the desktop app's Work and Codex tabs. This mobile rollout extends those same capabilities to phones. Anthropic has been moving in a parallel direction, recently easing mobile-to-desktop handoffs and merging its Cowork and Chat interfaces. OpenAI, however, is keeping chat and workspaces as distinct environments.
