Blender Foundation released Blender 5.2 LTS on July 14, 2026. This long-term support release introduces node-based physics for cloth and hair, audio-reactive Geometry Nodes via a new Sample Sound Frequencies node, and a Mesh Bevel node, with 2 years of LTS updates guaranteed.

Blender 5.2 LTS, codenamed 'The Long Roar Ahead,' was officially released on July 14, 2026. As a Long-Term Support release, it will receive updates for two years. The headline feature is a reimagined, node-based physics system built around a new XPBD Solver node, enabling procedural cloth and hair dynamics directly within Geometry Nodes. Cloth Dynamics and Hair Dynamics nodes come with built-in controls for pinning, tearing, stretch, and bendiness. A new effector system supports Colliders, Forces (including custom gravity), and fully custom behavior via Closure and Custom Effector nodes. A tag-based filtering system lets users determine which geometries each effector influences. Additional Geometry Nodes additions include the Sample Sound Frequencies node with a new Sound socket, enabling audio-reactive animations by loading sound files directly into node trees. The long-requested Mesh Bevel node also arrives, offering procedural control over edges and vertices. The release splash artwork was created by Joanna Kobierska, featuring the extinct Panthera spelaea (cave lion).
